Pre-Planning

Pre-Planning Information

We are among a shrinking number of funeral homes that consider pre-need arrangements a service rather than a product. At Rose Hill you will be dealing with a licensed funeral director when discussing prearrangement policies not a salesperson trying to make a commission. Make sure you put your trust into a licensed professional who can attend to all of the details and who is willing to hold himself or herself accountable for seeing that your wishes are carried out.  At Rose Hill we feel a funeral should be arranged, not sold.

Pre-planning provides peace of mind for everyone involved. A carefully
pre-planned service can be the most comforting to your family, as it spares them from having to face decisions that can be both emotionally and financially difficult at the time of death. It can give them lasting peace of mind to know that they have acted in accordance with your wishes.

Making pre-arrangements can be as simple or as detailed as you wish. You can make the selection of the services whether it be Cremation or Burial. Also select the Casket, Urn, music, etc. or simply record the information that will be needed for legal forms and other paperwork.

Another reason to preplan is to ensure that your family will receive all of the benefits for which they are entitled. It is important that all of your personal records, including bank account numbers, investment information, insurance policy numbers and location of important papers, be accessible to your family in the event of a death.

Pre-Planning Checklist

Our pre-need checklist shows you how many decisions must be made by a family member at the time of your death. This does not include choosing a casket or urn and outer burial container, notifying relatives, preparing a family history for the obituary, arranging for floral displays, etc.

By taking time now to consider the items below, you can make your wishes known to your family. You might even consider formalizing your preneed arrangements with a funeral director, which would allow you to complete all of your arrangements now.

· Name of church (if service to be held)
· Clergy to preside over service (name)
· Music? Vocal? Instrumental?
· Special musical selections?
· Would you like to have a visitation?
· Open casket? Closed casket?
· Funeral home preference?
· Obituary?
· Names of pallbearers
· Memorial contributions
· If veteran, flag on casket? Folded?
· Clothing
· Glasses
· Jewelry
· Location of cemetery property and deed
· Type of property: burial space/lawn crypt/mausoleum/niche
· Other instructions
