Rose Hill Funeral Home opened in early October 2001, becoming Greeneville's fourth funeral home and the first new funeral home in Greeneville in
several decades. Rose Hill Funeral Home has 18,024 square feet of floor space, two-thirds of it in the building's main level and one-third on a lower level.
The main floor has a chapel which can seat 250 people, plus five visitation rooms, a gift shop and an office. Innovative services provided
by Rose Hill include videotaping of the funeral as a keepsake for the family, and putting together a video display of family photographs of the deceased, along with appropriate background music. The
video presentation can be seen and heard on a wide-screen monitor in the chapel.
In the center of the building is a handsomely furnished hallway, about 90 feet by 20 feet, that leads to the visitation rooms.
On the lower level there is a snack area with vending machines for the public's use; an attractively decorated children's playroom, called the
"Monkey Room"; a funeral arrangements office; casket and crematory selection rooms; and two lounges, including one for smokers. The two floors are connected by an elevator as well as by stairs.
The children's room at Rose Hill Funeral Home is equipped with play tables, stuffed toys, a television and VCR with a collection of
appropriate children's video tapes.
The new funeral home has a double-wide carport as well as a covered front entrance. It also has two hearses, a flower car and a limousine.
The funeral home hopes within a year or so to add a crematory, so that cremations can be done locally.
